And maybe even see seals from a kayak, which are living in the bay this tour is taking you. I cannot promise for 100%, but so far we have seen seals on every kayaking tour 🙂 Kayaking in arctic, year-round is an unforgettable experience. During wintertime kayaking is still possible and locals do it a lot! With right gear you will be warm and cozy inside the kayak, while enjoying white mountains and stunning polar night colors around you!
This is an easy tour also for the ones who have never paddled before. If you enjoy being outdoors, can swim and have adventurous mind, this is a tour for you! Please notice that there are some restrictions on this tour for safety reasons, because your safety comes always first 🙂 You must be able to swim and communicate in English. Due to the size of the kayaks and dry suits, participants must be 158-195 cm tall and have a body mass index (BMI) no more than 30 and weight cannot be more than 95kg.
We like to keep the amount of participants low, so that you have a better possibility to experience nature and feel relaxed.
This tour is eco-friendly, located in Håkøybont, Kvaløya island, where you can arrive with a public buss from Tromsø city. Your guide is picking you up from the city center and after the tour guiding you back to the right buss. You can also arrive with your own car.

Tour takes around 5 hours (including transportation from the city center). For those who arrive with a public bus together with guide: We will meet 8.45 at Tromsø city center. Address is Kirkegata 2 (Front of Tourist Shop Tromsø buiding). After the tour, your bus is back in city center around 14.30. For those who will arrive with own car: You will get more detailed information about meeting time and place after registration.
WHERE: Håkøybotn, Kvaløya island (Next to Tromsø island).
WHAT TO EXPECT: Your guide will pick you up from city center and we will take a public bus to the place from where we start the tour. You will be introduced for all the needed gear and given an introduction how safely do a kayaking tour and some basic kayaking technique. After that we will start our tour and enjoy the magnificent nature around and under us. On the bay we are kayaking, are a lot of seals, so maybe we have a possibility to follow their life as well! Seals are already recognizing your guide and quite often they are gathering around us and following us. On a halfway on a tour, we will go to a land and have a short break with warm drink and a snack, which are included to the tour. Kayaks we are using are steady double kayaks or single kayaks (some cases). After the tour you will be guided to the nearest buss stop and you can take the local buss back to the city center.

NEEDED EXPERIENCE: If you enjoy being outdoors and move yourself, can swim and have adventurous mind, this is a tour for you. This tour is also suitable for new beginners. OWN EQUIPMENT: Warm clothes you are wearing under drysuit+1 extra layer. Best are merinowool /wool. You should have at least 2 layers: for example merinowool shirt/pants and top of that a thick wool / fleece and woolen socks. Bring also a warm jacket, (wool)hat and cloves and something to drink. Bring extra layer as well, if you need to change your clothes after the tour.
PRICE: 1690 nok/person for tours open for everybody. Payment is only possible via invoice which you will receive via e-mail after registration.
Price for private groups: 1-5 participants 7800 nok/group. 6 participants 9200 nok/group. Payment for private groups is made via one invoice which you will receive via e-mail after registration. If you will have separate invoice for every participant, 150 nok extra payment/invoice is added to the price.
PRICE INCLUDES: Certified, local kayaking instructor. All needed equipment for kayaking, together with drysuit we are wearing, a warm drink and a small snack. Small group and personal guiding. Busride / transportation to the destination and back to the city center

Sustainable and nature respecting tour: Sustainability and respecting the nature is very important to KaruArctic company. For this tour we use a public bus for transfers. Bay, where we do the tour, is the home of seals. There we are their guests. The seals have never been fed to attract them closer to the kayaks. We also never approach them, but the seals decide how close they come to us. This way, your guide has gained the trust of the seals and often the seals come quite close to the kayaks 🙂
